DE LA FONTAINE, designated in 2021, 2022 and 2023 for the prestigious distinction of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, is looking for a Production supervisor who will report to the Production Director. The Production supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the planning, direction, organization and control of an entire production line on a daily basis. The Production supervisor will contribute to the strategic direction of the production department, product development, optimization of work methods and product quality control.

Job Description

More specifically, he or she will be responsible for:

  • Manage a production/manufacturing department;
  • Achieve set production objectives (delivery times, quality, etc.);
  • Supervise a team of 20 to 30 unionized employees;
  • Plan work and evaluate employees;
  • Develop and implement programs to evaluate and ensure the efficient use of materials, labor and equipment;
  • Participate in the design of the factory layout by making recommendations for changes to machines, equipment, production system and work methods;
  • Train employees on the use of new equipment or production techniques;
  • Produce productivity analysis reports and carry out production/manufacturing quality verification rounds;
  • Make strategic recommendations for product improvement and development;
  • Ensure that work is carried out in a safe environment;
  • Monitor health and safety standards at work.

Schedule: Full time.
Shift: Evening or night shift.

You are the person we are looking for if you have the following skills and qualities:

  • College study program in manufacturing management, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or any other equivalent training;
  • 2 to 5 years of experience;
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles;
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete different projects;
  • Ability to manage personnel and a department in a factory;
  • Demonstrate leadership;
  • Rapid problem solving skills;
  • Very strong ability to adapt to daily changes;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (particularly Excel, intermediate level);
  • Knowledge of an integrated management system (ERP) such as Microsoft Dynamics AX (asset);
  • Knowledge of sheet metal processing (an asset).
